Reading-PrepSummer is the perfect time for rising Freshmen, Sophomores, or College Freshmen to improve their reading speed, focus, and comprehension. Break Through Test Prep offers an efficient reading training program that can help all high school and college students.

This six week program which is geared especially for ninth and tenth graders is a recommended precursor to the (P)SAT and/or ACT prep programs. It is also an excellent course for rising college freshmen so they are better able to handle the more demanding level reading.

The goal of the program is to train students to develop a reading range from 300 w.p.m. to 1000 w.p.m. Ideally, once students have pushed themselves to high ‘practice’ speeds, their ‘habit’ reading rate will rise as well. Ultimately, students will become flexible readers in that they will learn how to adapt their reading speed based upon purpose and content. Study skills and note-taking will also be addressed. Additionally students will learn how to approach reading standardized test passages (when relevant), newspapers, periodicals, reviews, novels, and textbooks.

The program is offered on a tutorial basis or semi-privately. The first lesson is and hour and a half; the remaining sessions are one hour. The tuition is $195 per hour; semi-private is $125 per hour. The materials fee is $25. If students wish to prepay for the six weeks, the materials fee is waived. The total tuition is $1268; the semi-private program is $813 each.

Please call 301-299-4380 to discuss options and scheduling!

Sessions are held at 11700 Charen Lane in Potomac and may be arranged afternoon or evening.
